ECO-EFICIENCIA COMO FUENTE DE VENTAJA COMPETITIVA PARA LAS PYMES EN MÉXICO

Abstract

The implementation of projects of eco-efficiency into the company helps to make more efficient the resources and operations for being friendly to the environment and generates benefits feasible to become a source of competitive. However, to include this sort of projects to the business strategy requires a vision and understanding of how to respond to the challenges of sustainability and its impact on competitiveness. In this context, it is of particular interest to determine the relationship between eco-efficiency projects, amounts of investment, saving and environmental performance, objective of this research. The conceptual model, developed it from the literature review, reflects the company’s ability to manage strategically the projects of eco-efficiency associated with economic and environmental performance indicators, which based the research hypothesis that holds that the type of project eco-efficiency is positively related to the amount of investment, saving and environmental performance, base to undertook the work of this research field. The methodological approach adopted is quantitatively, 1384 enterprises were analyzed, the information was provided by SEMARNAT from the Environmental Leadership Program for Competitiveness database. The test of the hypothesis was performed by means of statistical procedures to determine whether the types of projects are significantly related to economic and environmental performance. The main reward of the research was to establish the kind of eco-efficiency project as the main differentiating factor in enterprises, this led to propose a comprehensive management projects focused on eco-efficiency analysis, selection, implementation and control of the greatest value projects to the business and interest groups.
