dc.descriptionThe effect of un electric fie1d on the electron energy and resonant width in a quantum well have heen investigated theoretieally. By considering the tunneling of e1ectrons under Ihe influence of an electric fleld in the quamum well, we obtain a shifted and broadened energy level spectrum from the tunneling of electrons. The lifelime broadening due to lhe rapid tunneling escape of electrons is related to Ihe energy width of the resonant level by the uncertainly principle. Such lifetime decreases when the electric field increnses.-
