dc.description	La obesidad fue durante mucho tiempo considerada como un signo de belleza y salud. Actualmente es considerada como una patología de carácter epidémico y crónico degenerativo y como el mayor problema de salud pública. México ocupa el primer lugar mundial en sobrepeso y el segundo en obesidad. El objetivo del estudio fue evaluar si la aplicación de los puntos Zhongwan (RM12), Tianshu (E25) bilateral, Qihai (RM6), con electro estimulación acupuntural en onda denso disperso, y Zusanli (E36), Sanyinjiao (B6) con punción simple, disminuye el IMC y modifica los niveles de resistina en pacientes obesos. Se formaron 2 grupos aleatoriamente; un grupo control (n1=15), con aplicación de parches inertes, y un grupo experimental (n2=15), para la aplicación de electro estimulación, ambos con dieta de 1500 Kcal, con un total de 30 pacientes. Se observaron cambios en el IMC y parámetros de laboratorio, los cuales no fueron causados por el tratamiento acupuntural, ya que se presentaron también en el grupo control. De la misma manera, no hubo cambios significativos en los niveles de resistina.	es
dc.description.abstract	Obesity has long been considered as a sign of beauty and health. Nowadays it is considered as an epidemic, and chronic degenerative pathology, and as the major public health problem. Mexico ranks first in overweight, and second in obesity in the worldwide ranking. The objective of this research was to evaluate if applying Zhongwan (RM12), Tianshu (E25) and bilateral Qihai (RM6) acupoints, with electro-acupuncture stimulation with a dense wave scattered, and Zusanli (E36), Sanyinjiao (B6) acupoints with simple puncture, decreases BMI and modify the resistin levels in obese patients. Two groups were formed randomly, a control group (n1 = 15) wich was applied inert patches, and a experimental group (n2 = 15), wich was applied electro stimulation, both groups with a 1500 kcal diet, an a total of 30 patients. Changes in BMI and lab parameters were observed, but these were not caused by the acupuncture treatment, since changes were present in the control group as well. In the same way, they were not significant changes in the resistin levels.	es
