Resumen : The investigation established the objective of designing the proposal for a model to increase competitiveness through the analysis of personality factors restaurateur’s managers in Puerto Vallarta. The procedure used for the design of the proposed model was first analysis of the major factors of personality of the managers of restaurants and second to analyze the levels of competitiveness in the food service industry. They developed two measurements on the basis of the review of the literature, one to analyze the personality and other factors to measure the competitiveness of the restaurants. The instrument to measure the competitiveness was a questionnaire containing 28 questions, with a Cronbach alpha coefficient of .981, same as was measured by customer satisfaction in the dimensions of service quality, product quality and price. The instrument for analyzing personality factors are valid through the tool expert meeting and the questionnaire contains 60 reagents for measuring the factors (Intelligence, Strength Ego CT, Domain, Daring and Rebellion) personality of managers. The representative sample was 60 restaurants middle with a confidence level of 90%, 60 questionnaires were applied to managers to analyze the personality factors and 360 questionnaires to the customers of the 60 restaurants to measure levels of competitiveness, according to average number of customers have a week and per day. Subsequently analyzed the relationship between variables (personality and competitiveness) using the Pearson coefficient Personality factors showed significant correlations administrators regarding the competition, except, audacity with a negative relationship. According to the results of the correlation coefficients can say that the personality factors of the administrators, intelligence, domain, and Rebellion, with ratios of 0,618*, 0,697**, ,874**, y ,538 respectably and daring with a coefficient of -0,315 have a relationship with competitiveness, more higher scores in factors with positive and lower scores in bold in personality of managers that affects the strategic decisions of the restaurants that the end is reflected in increased competitiveness of the restaurant industry.
Descripción : La investigación estableció como objetivo diseñar la propuesta de un modelo que permita elevar la competitividad de la industria restaurantera mediante el análisis de los factores de personalidad de su administrador en Puerto Vallarta. El procedimiento utilizado para la indagación del problema, fue el análisis de los factores de personalidad de los administradores de los restaurantes de Puerto Vallarta y los niveles de competitividad de la industria restaurantera. Se desarrollaron dos instrumentos de medición con base en la revisión de la literatura, uno para analizar los factores de personalidad y otro para medir la competitividad de los restaurantes. El primero fue un cuestionario de 28 preguntas, con un coeficiente de alfa de Cronbach de 0.981 y midió la satisfacción del cliente bajo las dimensiones de calidad en el servicio, calidad en el producto y precio. El segundo fue para analizar los factores de personalidad, se validó con la herramienta de reunión de expertos y contiene 60 reactivos, para medir los factores, (inteligencia, fuerza yóica, dominio, audacia y rebeldía) de la personalidad de los administradores. La muestra fue de 60 restaurantes medianos, el nivel estadístico de confianza fue de 90%, de 60 cuestionarios para administradores y 360 cuestionarios para clientes de los restaurantes. Se midió el nivel de competitividad de acuerdo al número de clientes promedio que tiene, por día y por semana. Posteriormente se analizó la relación de las variables (personalidad y competitividad) utilizando el coeficiente de Pearson. Los factores de personalidad de los administradores mostraron una correlación significativa respecto a la competitividad, excepto audacia que tuvo una relación negativa. Los resultados de los coeficientes de relación que mostraron los factores de personalidad de los administradores como inteligencia, dominio, rebeldía y fuerza yóica, fueron de 0.618*, 0.697**, 0.874** y 538 respetivamente, y audacia con un coeficiente de -0.315, una relación fuerte con la competitividad. Los puntajes más altos en los factores con relación positiva y los más bajos en audacia en la personalidad de los administradores, incide en las decisiones estratégicas de los restaurantes que al final se reflejan en un aumento de la competitividad de la industria restaurantera.
