Valoración de la inclusión doble alginato-parafina aplicada para estudios histológicos en larvas de peces

Abstract

With the objective of improving histological method for determining starvation indexes in fish larvae of the Bothidae family, with an average length of 4 mm, simple embedding in parafine and double embedding in parafine-alginate methods were applied; this last one was applied without eliminating the alginate before staining and also eliminating the alginate using EDTA, previous to staining. Seven micra sections were obtained in all three cases. Sections obtained with double embedding were of better quality easier to handle; the following techniques were applied: hematoxilin-eosin, Van Gieson, Mallory's trichomic, Schiff’s periodic-acid, toluidine blue and Feulgen technique, in most cases the reactions was positive. We conclude that this method is satisfactory and can be applied to fish larvae.
