Abstract

The region of the Yucatan Peninsula2 today share a common past close ties to Mayan culture and that means that its population and this organization closely linked to this cultural heritage, effective today. The Yucatan Peninsula, however, has not been immune to the changes that globalization has imposed, why it has developed new flows of people, goods and capital in excess of political and territorial boundaries. Thanks to these factors the Yucatan Peninsula has become a strategic economic region of our country, focusing his expertise in two sectors: tourism and the oil industry, with a strategic center in the city of Merida and cities that have expressed an dynamic in recent stages, due in large part on the expertise we talked about earlier, the cities of Cancun and Ciudad del Carmen. The peninsular region is no stranger to macrocephalic phenomenon that characterizes our country, and as noted in other studies, most Latin American countries, ie, has a central city that has a major urban area, few medium-sized cities , then a rural dispersion.
