GLOBALIZACIÓN Y AMPLIACIÓN DEL AEROPUERTO INTERNACIONAL DE LA CIUDAD DE MÉXICO

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the general characteristics of the International Airport of Mexico City (aicm) and in particular the recent enlargements of it. The period of analysis of the conditions of aicm in relation to the requirements of the globalization process that is considered in this study covers 1992 to 2010. The specific part of analysis is to verify the extensions of the airport meeting the requirements of globalization. In particular it is considered that the aicm does not meet the technical and operational specifications recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organization (icao), which leads to saturation of the operational and which are part of the research problem. Sixteen characteristics were selected, which are considered in this research the components that must have a global airport; they were distributed in three major areas: infrastructure, operations and services. Therefore, the hypothesis is that the current conditions of aicm in terms of infrastructure, operations and services do not meet the requirements of a global airport. The objective of the research is to define what is a global airport. On the other hand, seeks to compare the conditions of some airports as a first approximation are considered global, with the capital’s airport, in order to understand to what degree global meets specifications and if necessary make recommendations. Also describes the relationship of an airport with production services that are provided within it, to understand the extent to which developments in the airports industry due to increased dependence on non-aeronautical and commercial revenues.
