In August 2001, a sap-sucking insect called red-gum psyllid, Glycaspis brimblecombei Moore, was observed in Durango city, on foliage of eucalypt trees. This psyllid had been detected in June 1999, in Tijuana, B. C. and later, in Guadalajara, Jal., in October 2000. Since its detection in Durango city, this insect was monitored, for distribution along the city and defoliation levels caused by the effect of this insect. This work includes part of an evaluation of infestation, in 7 green areas with eucalypt trees, in which it was applied a proposed methodology generated at the CIIDIR-IPN Durango, to show inter and intra variation on pest affected areas. In both psyllid species, it was observed their population fluctuation and sex variation, in areas with and without irrigation, where female and male abundance varies for both psyllid populations. Environmental factors and natural enemies reduced population abundance in 2003.es
