Título : Variaciones simultáneas de primer y Segundo órdenes en una situación de Gráficación y modelación de Movimiento

Descripción : This dissertation presents the conclusions of research performed to find out the learning achieved by Instituto Politécnico Nacional's high school students by producing a plot for a real motion problem. The work was developed by Torres “Modelling and graphing body motion situations using technological devices” is taken as background, and the socio-epistemology is taken as reference frame. In particular, a hypothesis originally stated for Castañeda in the Didactics of Calculus is taken up again, which claims "the notion of derivative cannot be built until the idea of different derivatives orders is accomplished". There are five elements in the hypothesis statement but, in the present work, there is an emphasis in the "simultaneous treatment of function changes" in terms of a motion situation, and in position and velocity changes. The exploration performed with the high school students is part of this research, which intends to describe the nature of the knowledge body that students use when faced with activities that demand plot reading skills to construct models that describe changes in position and velocity in a motion situation. Our hypothesis is that, in a model of motion situation, in which case the simultaneous treatment with the graphics of the variations in the function shows the relationship between the function f(x ) and its derivatives f’(x) and f’’(x) in a real situation of movement when a person walk a particular distance. The research studies the basic ways of the graphics and their meanings, these results are analyzed by the students who denotes the variations the first and the second order in the graphic. The students analyze the graphic and get the function to draw it with their own hands versus calculator. They describe point by point all the situations. The activities which have done to find the knowledge are analyzed by the students because they have to understand how to coordinate their graphic skills when they build models which permit them to describe the changes in position and velocity in a particular or general motion situation. This research has improved to understand how the high school students design models of movement, in particular case when they use graphic calculators and special sensors to simulate the motion.
